Hellooooo!!!
When we were in Munich, we decided to visit two famous castles commissioned by Bavarian King Ludwig II: Linderhof and Neuschwanstein. Both castles were so dreamy and magnificent.
Getting Here
We booked seats on a coach using Viator, leaving from KARSTADT Department Store at Bahnhofpl. 7. I wouldn't recommend tour code 285016 on Viator (https://www.viator.com/tours/Munich/Royal-Castles-of-Neuschwanstein-and-Linderhof-Day-Tour-from-Munich/d487-285016), because the tour guide was quite flippant when Dandelion and Burdock felt ill halfway during the trip. We'd really like to visit again, so if you guys went for any better tours/found another way to travel to Linderhof and Neuschwanstein, let us know! :)
Linderhof Palace
Linderhof is a French-style, Rococo-inspired palace, meant to replicate (and in some ways, mirror) Versailles, and the reign of the sun-King Louis XIV.
The scenery here is so tranquil... It's very therapeutic on a stressful day.
We couldn't take pictures inside, but here are some pictures of the fountains and the gardens.
Neuschwanstein
Neuschwanstein is another story. It's bigger and airier and looks less flashy, which is a stark contrast to Linderhof. It's meant to be made in a Romantic revival style.
This picture is taken from Marenbruke Bridge, and the view there is spectacular!
In the castle there are plenty of paintings (which we also couldn't take pictures of!) These paintings are protagonists of Wagner's operas, and frankly it's like Ludwig II's personal fanboy shrine.
And the view from the castle is just... breathtaking.
Does this make you look forward to visit more castles soon? Tell us if you've been to any of these castles and let us know what you think of them!
